Our Story

Hope Community Centre initiative is inspired by Hope, who is from South Sudan. Witnessing the monumental daily struggles Hope and her three children faced, from accessing healthcare, identity documents, and education to securing employment, we noted the extent of severe systemic and social barriers

These challenges have only intensified for the local refugee and asylum-seeker community due to recent funding cuts in the humanitarian sector.

What we are doing to help

In response, a small team is launching Hope Community Centre, a dedicated space led directly by individuals with lived refugee experiences. By placing leadership in the hands of those who truly understand the community's needs, the project aims to bypass traditional barriers and foster authentic, effective support.

How we are achieving this

The centre will serve as a hub for empowerment and autonomy, offering language literacy, employment opportunities, workshops, and peer mentorship. To bring this vision to life and cover startup costs, we are inviting the public to donate or fundraise, giving the centre's leaders the financial freedom to distribute aid where it is needed most.
